River the Butter Thief: The Great RV Butter Caper
River’s Butter Adventure
It all started when Mom left me in the RV. Alone. Abandoned. I watched her go with the saddest eyes I could muster—eyes that have moved mountains (or at least earned extra treats). But this time, she was immune. Off she went, into the mysterious world of “shopping,” while I, River the Golden Doodle, was left to my own devices.
I sighed. Loudly. Several times, just in case Mom could hear them from the parking lot.
But then… a smell. A beautiful smell. Rich. Creamy. Magical. My nose twitched. My ears perked up. Something amazing was happening—somewhere, nearby, a snack awaited.
I followed the scent like a seasoned detective, sniffing my way to the kitchen counter. And there it was: a golden block of butter, gleaming in the light, just sitting there like a forgotten treasure. No wrapping. No barrier. No one guarding it. Destiny.
Now, I know what you’re thinking—River, dogs don’t eat butter. To that I say: opportunity doesn’t knock twice.
With one graceful leap, I reached the counter, nudged the block onto the floor, and got to work. It was glorious. Smooth. Silky. Tasted like heaven and rebellion. I licked every last bit, savoring the moment like a true connoisseur.
By the time Mom returned, I was lounging on the rug, full of butter and no regrets. She stepped inside, paused, and spotted the empty wrapper.
“River…” she said, in that tone that’s half scolding, half “I can’t believe you actually did that.”
I tilted my head. Wagged my nubby tail. Gave her the ol’ innocent doodle eyes.
She laughed. Butter forgiven.
Later, as the sun set and the RV got quiet, I climbed into Dad’s lap, where everything was warm, safe, and calm. Sure, I had gone rogue for a little while. But at the end of the day, I was back where I belonged—wrapped in love, slightly greasy, and dreaming of my next great caper.
